Recognizing Low Blood Sugar

Course Overview:

Low blood sugar, also known as hypoglycemia, is a common and potentially dangerous condition, especially in individuals with diabetes or those receiving insulin or oral diabetes medications.  Caregivers play a critical role in early recognition and prompt response to hypoglycemia to prevent injury, loss of consciousness or medical emergencies.

This in-service provides caregivers with the knowledge and skills to recognize early and late signs of low blood sugar, understand common causes and respond appropriately within their scope of practice.
